Project ideas

JanineI am going to set up a pupil focus group which will meet with me and start adding resources around the theme of digital literacy using a variety of technology tools I learnt about on the course. Eventually I am hoping the blog will be extensive enough available that all pupils to use it. I also want to use the focus group to design assemblies around the theme of digital literacy/citizenship and PSE lessons. I will start off small by gathering the group together, having initial meeting and explaining the aims of the group.  We will begin by focusing on what they think the benefits of using the internet are and what they dislike about it, we will then expand from there. We will use the blog for discussions and to add ideas through text, audio boom and videos.
LloydI'll be appointing and developing Digital Champions, initially from Years 12 and 13, allowing them to create and deliver a support programme within school - with guidance given as appropriate. It'll be fascinating to see where they go and how they get there.
LizI am going to create a blog for staff and selected students  that can sit on our website and allow me to share with them some of the topics that we covered on our course.  I will also allow us to share good practice and allow staff to explore the use of ICT that they may not have used before.  The first focus will be about the European day of languages.
AlanI have decided to change my project to focus on the learners. I will create a group of key digital learners who will create a resource to help me promote ICT and digital literacy in the school. I will train them in blogging, creating digital resources and let them choose the method they wish to use to express themselves. I will still develop a digital parenting microsite, but this will be done in collaboration with the key digital learners.
IanI am going to set up blogs with two sets of pupils in which they summarise/self assess what skills they have learned during a lesson. They will use Cam Studio to create videos describing the specific skills they have used. These blogs can then be used by the pupils themselves as an aide memoir, but also as a collection of resources that can be used by other pupils who need help in a certain skill area.
TonyMy project will centre on staff and pupils embracing social media and the internet while paying particular attention to Safeguarding and Privacy.
KylaI am going to set up a blog for my team as a useful resource, primarily for Primary Schools, of useful links and child-friendly teaching resources for both online safety and positive media use.
StuWe are going to fashion an all new 'living' digital magazine (via Blog) which will initially contain information on eSafety issues, our own 'How to' guides and a section dedicated to media such as gaming.
SueMy focus is going to be online wellbeing. Long term I want to do a Pupil Voice on this and how our youngsters deal with a range of on line issues. In the short term I will set up a focus group, at KS3, to gain insight to where our pupils current awareness lies, This insight will then help me develop ideas for the final focus. My main outcome is to arm the pupils with strategies to deal with any situation they face whilst on line. EDIT UPDATE: To prepare for the discussion regarding online welfare I am going to use Twitter as a classroom learning tool - I have already used it for two sets of home work. I am also going to develop Facebook and YouTube to engage pupils and to show case their work.
AnthonyI'm going to A) Try and get a school twitter account embedded on our Website. Update permission from parents for this. B) Also three groups are going to use video cameras to create and edit their own videos for our school site- One for the newly opened cafe, one done by the head boy and girl as an official welcome to the school and one by our satellite class at Cwm Ifor to show at Cwm Ifor school.
RobGoing to create my first blog for my school camera club
ShellyI am going to plan and create a private blog for School staff to access about digital literacy.
BenI am going to develop a Digital Citizenship and Digital Parenting resource on the school website, focusing on two main areas. The first being the skills and knowledge that some parents will need to understand why and how their children are using the Web / Social Media. At the other end of the scale I will also address the Digital / Work / Family time balance issues generated by new technology. I will get learners to write pieces of work, blog posts, video discussing how they feel that their parents are always using technology and how and why they would like their parents to give them more of their time.
